What is Lead Qualification?

Lead qualification is the process of determining whether a prospect is a genuine fit for your product and worth a rep's time, based on signals like need, budget, decision-making authority, and timing. Qualifying early prevents your team from pouring effort into deals that will never close.

Qualification can happen through a form, a conversation, or an AI agent that asks targeted questions during outreach. The goal is to sort leads into buckets — ready to talk, worth nurturing, or not a fit — so each gets the right next step. Common frameworks (BANT, MEDDIC) structure the questions reps ask.

In an AI-driven workflow, the AI qualifies at scale during first-touch conversations, then hands off only the qualified, interested prospects to a human closer.

  • •Assess need, budget, authority, and timing (e.g. BANT)
  • •Sort into ready, nurture, or not-a-fit buckets
  • •AI can qualify at scale before a human ever spends time
