AI Voice Script Lab: Build Sales Conversations That Escalate Well
Use a structured script lab to define openings, qualification, boundaries, objections, and human escalation for AI voice workflows.
A Voice Script Lab is not a place to write a longer monologue. It is a repeatable way to make the desired conversation, prohibited claims, and handoff boundaries explicit before calls reach a real lead.
Use this guide to design an approved workflow, test it on a defined segment, and let the next qualified action—not raw activity—decide what to change.
Write a conversation map
Map the opening, permission question, two or three qualification branches, common exits, and escalation conditions. A short decision tree is easier to test than a paragraph of instructions with conflicting goals.
- Define the call objective.
- Limit qualification questions.
- Name stop and escalation paths.
Give the assistant boundaries
Specify facts it may state, facts it must verify, and questions it must transfer. Product availability, pricing, contracts, and regulated guidance are common boundaries where a human or approved source should take over.
- Create an approved-claims list.
- Add a ‘do not answer’ list.
- Include AI and company disclosure where appropriate.
Test with difficult turns
Role-play interruptions, a request for a human, a wrong number, a pricing demand, and a verbal opt-out. The desired answer is often a graceful exit, not another attempt to persuade.
- Test interruptions.
- Test opt-out recognition.
- Test an unfamiliar objection.
Version scripts with their campaign
Attach the script version to campaign results and retain the reason for each edit. This keeps a later review from confusing a list-quality change with a script change.
- Name versions clearly.
- Record the hypothesis.
- Approve changes before launch.
