Outreach

What is Follow-Up?

A follow-up is any outreach touch that comes after an initial message went unanswered — a second email, a callback, or a text reminding the prospect of your first note. Follow-ups matter enormously because most prospects don't respond to a first attempt; a large share of replies and booked meetings come from the second touch onward.

Effective follow-ups add something new — a fresh angle, a relevant resource, a short nudge — rather than just asking "did you see my last email?" They're spaced sensibly within the cadence and stop after a reasonable number of attempts, ideally with a breakup message.

Automation makes follow-ups reliable: it's the step humans most often forget, and AI never does, sending each planned touch on time and adjusting based on the prospect's response.

  • •Most replies come from the second touch onward
  • •Add a new angle each time rather than "just checking in"
  • •Cap attempts and end with a breakup email
